She went to her bedroom and grabbed her phone. Unlike what she told Mel, however, she had no intention of calling Jay. She wanted Jay back more than anything. But he needed to taught a lesson about how to be a proper boyfriend. So instead of calling Jay, Kyla called one of the other two girls-turned-into-boys that she met at the mall that night. If it looked like she was dating more than one guy, then Mel wouldn't be the target of Jay's anger. Assuming that their phone numbers were the same in this new reality, Kyla tapped in the number for Amber Levine.

She had everything on speed-dial. She didn't actually know Amber's number by heart. She ordered her speed dial in order of importance to her. 1 was her voicemail, 2 was Jay, 3 had been Melissa...

When she pressed the number for Amber, and it began to ring...a female voice answered. One she didn't recognize.

It hadn't occurred to her that if three of her friends didn't exist, they wouldn't be on her speed dial. Someone else would.
