Down the street from the mall...
Zoe Madison, Athena DeVries, and Zelda Whitefield entered the Witch's Brew, a local coffeehouse. "So, what did you say?" Athena asked Zoe, urging her to continue the story.
"I just waited till she went downstairs and snuck out. My mom's fuckin' clueless."
The Cloud slowly drifted into the coffeehouse. Zelda turned, suddenly spotting something out of the corner of her eye. The air around her suddenly turned deathly quiet, then...like hitting play on a video...everything started up again.
"So what did you say?" Athena asked Zoe.
Zelda blinked...Hadn't Athena already asked that?
"Well, you know me," Zoe said. "I don't like confrontation, so I just left."
"That was probably wise," Athena agreed.
Zelda did a spit take. Both girls stared at her. "Are you all right?" They both sounded concerned. Zelda would have expected them to curse at the splatter.
"Zelda...?" Zoe asked.
Zelda took a few breaths. Her friends seemed too...calm all of the sudden. She loved Zoe like a sister, but Zoe usually pissed off about something or another. Athena was usually more level headed, but she didn't usually back away from confrontation either.
"I think we'd better get cleaned up," Zoe said. "You should take smaller sips, especially when its hot."
That left Zelda perplexed, sitting there, thinking. When her friends returned from the bathroom, she nearly did another spit take. Their clothes had changed.
Zoe was wearing a rather conservative, yet attractive black dress. Athena was wearing a red dress. They sat down. "Now, are you all right, Zelda?" Athena asked her.
"What?" Zelda said. "What happened to your clothes? Your...everything."
"What did they put in that tea?" Zoe said, sniffing it and frowning.
Zelda stared at them, keeping herself under control, but just barely. "I'm not feeling very well, all of the sudden," she lied.
"I'm sorry. Do you want us to take you home?" Athena asked. "I mean, it is late. It's almost eleven."
