Zoe was equally confused, looking back at Linda. She actually felt worried about what was happening to her instead of feeling pissed off at her. She wasn't sure what the haze in front of her was doing to them, but she tried to move, finding her limbs were slow to respond, as if restrained.
Finally, the cloud released them, drifting off down the hallway, leaving the two changed, a bit confused, but...if you could call it that...uninjured.
Zoe opened her mouth to speak. "What the fuck was that?" She paused. It seemed wrong to use gratuitous profanity all of the sudden. She wasn't sure why.
"I'm not sure. But...have you looked at yourself?"
"You mean, it changed me too...?" She looked down. They'd both been focusing on each other.
"What do you mean, too?" Linda asked. "You actually look normal..."
"You mean, not Goth," Zoe corrected her. "This is not normal...although it...feels that way, doesn't it?"
Linda had to agree. "Shouldn't we be freaking out? I know that is what I should be doing. But...I..."
"...just don't feel it," Zoe completed the sentence.
"How are we going to explain this to people?" Linda said.
"Somehow," Zoe said, certainly, "I don't feel like that's going to be a problem."
