She opened the door to the hallway and spotted Zoe heading up the stairs. It wasn't until she moved to confront her that she saw the cloud behind the teen. But by that point, it was too late.
The cloud enveloped the two of them. Linda felt as if the air around her was charged with electricity, which made her hair stand on end. Her mind went completely blank.
She could see Zoe with an equally blank look on her face. A face that was shifting. The deliberately pale skin was tanning, and growing healthier, and Zoe's hair was shifting back from black to brown and restyling itself.
How was this possible? Linda thought. It was hard to wonder though, as her mind was telling her that there was nothing wrong. Everything seemed disturbingly normal.
Zoe was equally confused, looking back at Linda. She actually felt worried about what was happening to her instead of feeling pissed off at her. She wasn't sure what the haze in front of her was doing to them, but she tried to move, finding her limbs were slow to respond, as if restrained.
Finally, the cloud released them, drifting off down the hallway, leaving the two changed, a bit confused, but...if you could call it that...uninjured.
