Despite the temple being in the middle of nowhere, it looked brand new with pure white marble walls. Even the glass on the windows was clean. It also looked like it had been carved directly from a single enormous block of marble rather than being made of many smaller bricks. "Wow!" Emily couldn't help but be amazed by the structure. Even knowing this was a game, it was the first time she saw something so awe-inspiring in person. Sadly, the fog made by the magic was stopping her from seeing the entire building.

However, the effect wasn't as big on Karyn as she only saw the temple through her screen. "That's pretty impressive. What do you think is making this light?" Karyn asked.

"I don't know, but it looks like it's the same thing that makes the magic." Emily answered before laughing as she thought of something. "Do you think I'll find the master sword inside?"

"What?" Karyn answered, not understanding what Emily was talking about.

"Sorry. I forgot you've never played video games before... It's a reference to the Zelda games where a guy, Link, has to defeat this other guy, Ganondorf, and he generally needs the master sword for that. And it's often found in a temple..." Emily looked at Karyn's confused expression and smiled awkwardly. "Anyway... It's not important right now. Let's just go inside." She said and opened one of the large doors of the temple. It opened surprisingly easily considering its size and revealed a huge room, with rows of marble benches, like you'd expect in a church. They were all facing the same direction but the magic was so dense inside that it was like walking inside a cloud and she couldn't see more than a few meters in front of her.

"Wow, this place is huge" Karyn said as her vision was unimpeded.

"Do you see where the light is coming from?" Emily asked as she walked carefully while watching her feet.

"I think it's coming from the altar, but I'm not sure." Karyn answered. "Everything is white, and it's hard to see where... J... Emily! Stop!"

Had Karyn not called the wrong name at the beginning. Emily might have heard her in time, but she didn't. As Emily heard Karyn's warning, she was already stepping into a giant spiderweb going from the floor to the ceiling. "What?!" she said as her entire body was getting stuck in the web. "What is that?"

"Above you!" Karyn shouted, prompting her friend to look up. She still couldn't see clearly because of the magic but she could make out the shape of a giant spider slowly coming down the web, almost as big as Emily.

"Oh fuck!" Emily cursed as she tried getting out of the web. It was too sticky for Emily to remove from her body quickly, but it was thankfully fragile enough for her to free herself after some struggling.

The web on Emily's body is making it harder to move: AGI divided by 2.

She didn't waste any time and quickly got out of the temple, but the spider was chasing her. "Fuck! Fuck! Oh FUCK!" She screamed in fright. "Karyn! What do I do?!"She shouted as she ran, but the spider was surprisingly quick and the web or her body slowed her down a lot. It was only a matter of seconds before it would catch up to her.

"I don't know! I can't do anything... You will have to fight."

Emily looked behind her. The spider was close enough now for her to see clearly it's hairy form rushing toward her. It made her run even faster into the forest. "I'm not fighting that! Are you insane?!"

"It's a game! You said you'd respawn if you died!" Karyn tried convincing her, but Emily didn't show any reaction as she continued running into the darkness of the forest. The spider would soon catch up and it would be too dark to see clearly, so Karyn made a decision. "Sorry..."

Attack the guardian spider.

The message appeared before Emily and she suddenly stopped running against her will. "What the..." Her broom appeared in her hands and she swung it hard, hitting the spider in the face. It hissed menacingly in response and sank its mandible in her arm. Emily screamed, more in fright than in any real pain, as it was once more lessened by the game.

"Emily! Listen to me!" Karyn almost shouted. "I know it's scary, but it's a game!" Emily finally got her arm free and began running again, followed shortly by the spider. "God damnit!"

Attack the guardian spider.

Emily stopped once again, but the spider dodged the broom this time and collided with her, sending her falling in the bramble near the road. "Karyn! Stop doing that! I'm not joking!" Emily screamed as she swung the broom wildly to keep the spider away.

"Then fight! It's either fight and you might win, or die running away!"

Emily's tactic to swing the broom wildly didn't last long as the spider shot some web into it, sticking it to a tree nearby. "Fuck!" Emily crawled away in the bramble, abandoning the broom.

Attack the guardian spider.

Emily's feet suddenly shot up, kicking the spider in the mandible and making it flinch. "I hate you Karyn! Stop that!" Emily screamed with tears in her eyes

"Either you fight or I continue doing that." Karyn stated. She didn't like doing it, but she knew Emily wouldn't stop running away unless she had no choice. And she didn't want her to die, even if it wasn't definitive. "So what will it be?"
