Doing everything I've done made my profile a bit too high for others to tolerate. I was taking the joke cult and making it an international military force. I caused the big war with the mermaid pod and obscured the troubles that caused the downfall of Pollo Island. As an exile, I allowed the naga necromancer that was supposed to be a simple questline destroy and conquer the city and integrate more naga tribes. Because of Daniel's funeral, a crusade was called against me and the faith. If it was not me doing it, I would be pissed off as well. Since it was me, I thought it was pretty cool. I would definitely be known as a important figure of the early game history. That could be its own reward. Apparently, people wanted me out of there hair because of this. While I was helping around the shrine, I got a visit from Sir Noah of the messenger's guild. I was happy to see him. "It's been a long time since we met, Sir Noah." I said. He happily nodded and replied "Certainly, Sir Hawks. Business has been great. Reliability is a currency in the trade. Nothing says reliability like an active warzone." That was true.

He had a letter from Lance Quaid for me. I could not believe it. "You're kidding me." I said. Noah shook his head. "I'd never try to pull a fast one on you. I do value my life after all." he said. I opened it and a popup appeared so I could read it. He wanted to offer me a spot as a Sage. I was really happy. Suzie had told me about this. I then read further and my enthusiasm died down a bit. It was the classic "Promotion of Hell" scenario. Give an annoying upstart a raise and fancy title while banishing him to the outskirts. If they refuse the so-called "honor", they would be unlikely to be given another. If they took it, they would be out of the way and unlikely to return to where they could interfere with those with the true power. I was going to be a Sage, but it was not on Ether. It was on some sub-world with only a pathetic 600 or so players. All the rules of being a Sage would apply to me. I would not be able to rule any territory or directly interfere with NPCs. What I could do was make Protectors and oversee a couple of the settlements in the area I was given jurisdiction over. It might suck for me.

Epsilon wanted to come with me as I made my way to Epic City. He had been impressed and charmed by me. Epic City was where you had to go to meet Lance Quaid and become a Sage. I decided to let him join my party and accompany me. We got on a horse and began to ride together. I decided to just push through and continue on riding day and night until I go to Epic City. Epsilon was still powerful and did not need to sleep as often as most of the NPCs or even the other Protectors at the shrine. It took us several in-game days. Once we got to Epic City, we began to walk around. Epsilon wanted to sightsee for a bit and I indulged him. He wanted to see how things were in the main hub of Ether. After that, we made it to the temple where he resided. Once we were inside, it did not take too long before Lance Quaid was standing before us. He looked Epsilon over and said "You look like you've been tampered with. I can fix you." He then touched his shoulder and a golden glow enveloped him. The glow faded almost as quickly. Epsilon stretched and flexed. He looked pretty excited.
