"Wait," Jon said. "I need to go somewhere else."
"This isn't a taxi," the fake Mrs. DeVries said, frowning.
"I know. But this is really important."
"I am driving you home, and then I'm going home myself. I've had enough from you tonight," Mrs. DeVries said. "I'm not a taxi, I'm not someone to play jokes on. If I didn't know your mother, I'd let you walk."
"But..." he said, but she shushed him. It was hard to see Karyn's face act like this.
She ejected him in front of his house, and he went inside to regroup.
