The large, red goblin screamed before readying its weapon. "These guys are Goblin Champions. They spawn in after a dozen or so goblins have been killed in an area." she explained as she ran to me. I held my sword and we faced it together. Suzie made sure to grab the aggro as I slashed at it with the sword and threw my javelins. My stats were not that high. It meant I had to work hard for my kills. Throwing them long distances was a big task and I winded up missing all but one. Suzie was keeping it at bay as I fumbled around. I drew my sword and charged in. With a mighty yell, I stabbed it through his heart. Suzie cheered for me. I felt really good. That took me to level 9 from the amount of exp. that was gained. Suzie wiped her brow and said "Well, that is basically it. You need to work more on combat, but I'm tired right now. We can also start with doing some quests in the city." I looked at her and said "I still haven't tested out the special moves for the driders yet. Let's stay a bit." She sighed and said "Fine. I'll take a backseat and see what you can do." I looked for something to attack.
Incidentally, there was another of the Goblin Champions walking about. I climbed a tree with a thicker trunk and waited for it to come over. When it did wander under the tree, I aimed my spider abdomen at it. There were four verbal commands for the silk sacs I had. They were "Web" "Cocoon" "Thread" and "Reel". The spinnerets would form the silk from the sacs I had into the desired form and allow me to use it. I sent a thread down and it attached on the champion's head. He screamed and went aggro on me. I reeled him up part of the way and Suzie ran up and stabbed him. I saw a smaller goblin and shot a web at him. I acted like a net and trapped the goblin. Suzie killed it as well. That was pretty cool. I then climbed down from the tree. "Are you ready to go now?" she asked. I nodded and she smiled at me. She then led the way to the city again. I had heard about the Traveler's Guild when reading up on the game. It's not only the home of unique sub-worlds created by the developers, here are tools that allow players to create their own sub-worlds which can be downloaded and played.
As we began walking towards what I assumed to be the direction of the Traveler's Guild, Suzie began to talk excitedly about the possibilities within these sub-worlds. "Ya' know, despite the fact that the Ether has only been out for a day or so, there already hundreds of available sub-worlds! Well, some where created by the devs of course, but the majority are player-made!" She paused for a moment, but before she could continue her excited rant I jutted in. "Man, you're getting me hyped just from you talking about it!" I said. I looked down at her and grinned. I was about 2 feet taller than her because of our races. I then continued talking. "By the way, how far is it? Are we almost there?" I asked. "Just around this corner!" She said, as we turned the corner, she did a pose like she had just pulled the building out of a hat. The Guild itself was relatively unassuming, it looked like all the other buildings on the street. The only thing that really made it stand out were the banners hanging from the second story, advertising to whoever was walking by. "Shall we enter?" she said, pointing at the door.
Skittering around, we walked to it. "It would be silly if we didn't at this point." I said to her, as we started to walk towards the entrance. As we opened up the door, we both gasped out loud. Their interior of the building was much larger than the average building. There, in the center of the chamber was a large, futuristic holographic display showcasing the most popular sub-worlds, while all along the left and right sides were smaller terminals with numerous players using them. On the far side of the room their were some people, likely NPCs considering they all looked exactly alike, at what looked like help desks. "So I guess we go take a look at one of these terminals?" I assumed, glancing over at Suzie for confirmation. "Yup!" She replied, nodding her head. "Come on! I see an open terminal over here!" She rushed off in the direction of the open terminal, I quickly followed her. When I got to the terminal, Suzie was already browsing the list of sub-worlds. When she noticed me over her shoulder she stepped aside. "Since it's your first day, you can be the one to pick which one we go to!"
