Suzie was waiting for me after all. I was not The other patrons were not as reserved and I saw two dogkin young men compete for her attention. I still had to find Suzie. It was because she was going to show the ropes for combat. I was also planning on spending some quality time with her as well. I got my things together and left the inn. It was called "The Watering Hole". "It is a really good place to stay" I mused out loud. From there, I went to the center of town and wandered around looking for her. I knew what she looked like from the pictures she had sent me and she said she was an elf. I had no clue where she would be. Not planning it out beforehand made me want to kick myself, but that would be hard with my new body. I sighed and kept going. She had to be around somewhere. All I had to do was look harder in the city. Since I knew that she was a rouge, I decided to go to the eastern quadrant. She was waiting at the entrance to the quadrant. There was a post that she was leaning on. I went up to her and she looked me up and down as she stood straight. "Suzie, it's me. David." I said.
I could see as Suzie's eyes widened. She looked impressed as she walked around me and came back to look at my face. "A drider, huh!? You were pretty bold with your choice." she said. I nodded and she shrugged. "Let's go then. There is a plain near the forest. It's a good spawning zone for monsters. The monsters there are low level so you can grind and level up". I followed her and asked if she noticed if the NPCs could be racist. She shrugged and said "I have pointy ears, but I can cover them with a hood. I can take on low tier mobs." That was probably true. Suzie was not one to take things lying down. If she had been grinding and doing as many quests as she had been telling me, she was probably stronger that most of the townspeople. Being a rogue in the city was already a pretty antisocial class anyway. She asked if I had a license for entering the city. I shook my head. Suzie smiled and said "Well, you need one to get in and out of the city. Entering the city is a secret quest to weed out uncreative or lazy players. If you can get in, you can become a citizen." I nodded my head.
Going over there took a few minutes. "You just have to wait in line at the citizen registry office. It shouldn't take too long. Players get to advance in line." That was the first place we went. Like Suzie said, it was easy to get my papers. The citizenship cost just 15 lin. It was a deceptively good price. It was a low enough price that a player just starting out could decide to commit to Epic City with their stipend of 100. It is high enough that most poor NPCs would not be able to move to new towns easily. Suzie was already level 9. There were a set of starter classes that a play could choose from. It was then up to the player to grow stronger and achieve certain conditions to advance into higher tiered classes. For example, at level 10 in the rouge class, she could choose between following a bunch of thieves or joining a den of assassins as an apprentice. From there, there will be their own skill trees for the new class. Suzie took me to where I could buy a pass to come and go as I please from the city. When we were in the open she led me down a path where enemies spawned in. It was very fun.
I noticed that I was really enjoying her company. Usually, we could only chat over the phone or in video chats. That could not compare to this experience in FOG. Being this close to her was the best thing possible. I was falling even deeper for her by the minute. She taught me the ropes by telling me about all the weapons I had and how to use them in combat. She had some to spare and gave them to me. "Thanks." I said as I was handed some javelins and a longsword. "Don't worry about it." she replied with a smile. I was able to kill some slimes and goblins for a few hours. I reached level 2 in no time. After the 2 in-game hours, I was level 7. I looked around me and saw that Suzie had wandered of at some point. I looked around for her. When I saw her she was engaging a red, large goblin. One was already dead on the ground. We had formed a party and I was benefitting from her success. She was hard carrying me. Embarrassing as it was, everyone started somewhere. I wanted to get much stronger and more confident so we could do more cool things together. I wanted to impress her soon.
