Effie and Dennis sat on Mikey's table as they watched the two children talk. It was a little odd realising that only their host could see them. Sadly, Becca was unable to perceive them. Not to mention that Dennis in particular was feeling a bit ashamed to be listening in on what was probably a private conversation.
Effie however remained curious. "She says she's some kind of magic girl?" That had to be impossible! What in the world was a magic girl anyway? Was that like a sorceress?
"It means she's like sailor moon," said Dennis automatically speaking his thoughts.
"What's sailor moon?" Effie said turning to Dennis curiously.
The DOS fairy suddenly turned beat red. "It's- well- an animé."
Effie wondered why Dennis looked so odd about it. So it was an animé. But the way he was reacting made her wonder just what kind it was. He was acting as if it was some kind of secret. "Not a good one then?" she probed trying to get him to spill it.
"Um- It's... okay," he said a little shyly. "It's just one of those kind of shows. There's a lot of things that are..." he trailed away not sure quite how to describe it much less how he stumbled onto it.
Effie shrugged and turned back to the conversation the two children were having, but something made her glance up to the window. In the alcove there seemed to be some kind of.. movement? Was it just her or did that doll... she must be going crazy. "Dennis... I don't think we're alone here," She whispered carefully.
The DoS fairy glanced up. "I think I saw it too..."
"I'm going to check it." Effie said adamantly. Unfortunately she still had not worked out the secret to bringing her wings out when being projected in the real world. That meant she had to walk over and climb the curtain. Effie did a running jump and managed to grab the curtain cloth. Fortunately it was wrinkly enough to get a foot and hand hold onto it. She recalled that digital fairies could still bleed if hurt, so she certainly didn't want to fall.
She had a suspicion though that if she did hurt herself severely, Mikey could probably 'reset' her... but that was still a scary thought. Being reminded that she was now just a piece of software always brought an unsettling despair at her new kind of existence.
She held onto the curtain, and pulled herself up. It wasn't too far, just a foot or so. But at her size, it was like scaling up a wall. Finally she managed to swing herself to the ledge.
Well that's interesting. It was Becca's strange doll. It also had blue hair, just like Becca. She thought it looked adorable. Especially the French braids. It was quite strange to see someone her own size too.
Then the doll blinked.
Effie screamed. She fell back slightly and very narrowly missed falling down. "It's alive! It's alive!" She shouted to Dennis.
Dennis hearing Effie scream like that was already beside her. He had somehow managed to call his DOS-box in the real world to do it. It quickly elivated him to the alcove. Effie didn't even have time to register this though as she was already just glad to have him near.
"It's okay Effie, she can't see us," He said trying to be calm. That was the advantage they always had in the real world. But then, neither could they interact with anything.
He held Effie assuringly, as the ME fairy eased her breathing then glanced again at the 'doll' but in reality a flesh and blood woman. As close as they were they could perceive every detail of her breathing. She seemed to be watching Becca like a hawk, though her expression seemed concerned.
She really couldn't see them.... right?
