Now with a 5 person party, we set off for the castle town we helped to siege. The villagers saw us off like we were heroes. I felt encouraged by that. We walked the way we came when we were dismissed by the lord. He was red eyed and with light skin like we were. His hair was white like the snow. With our low status and levels, I really doubted that we would be hired by him for anything. Having any paying job was our priority. Phirlax and Thalox kept bumping heads because they both were the type of demon that needed to be the most dominant in a group. It usually happened like this: an innocuous comment, an argument, a challenge, a fight, Thalox winning, and the rest of us siding with Phirlax anyway. That would piss both of them off. Phirlax for being patronized and belittled. Thalox for being ignored and having his win invalidated with our non-compliance. It did keep both of them in check as no one could be the top dog in the group. It was not in anyone else's nature. It was beaten and fucked out of Dulgron. Helelin was the type to observe from the sidelines and use things to her benefit.
I was not a fighter either. I was the one to make most of the decisions in the party. That also made them upset as I was leading them without fighting for it. I could tell that was the case from the way they reacted. Phirlax flinched and stomped ahead grumbling. Thalox glared at me, but I never backed down unless they both disagreed. At that point, I had to discuss it with the whole group. I did a lot of ego soothing, but I guessed that was to be expected in a party of young demons. I made sure that Thalox stopped bullying Dulgron. That was done by making sure that he came to my tent at night instead of Thalox's. He was confused the first few nights we did not fuck. "Is there any problem with my appearance?" he asked one night. I said "You look nice. I just want to make sure Thalox isn't bullying you at night. It might make him more of a handful to deal with." Dulgron just looked at me and smirked. I just looked at him. "Helelin was right. You do play dirty to get what you want." he said. "Sometimes it's better to push rather than pull. Remember that, and you'll find many advantages." I told him.
Dulgron just chuckled and moved closer to me. "I see that. You have both Phirlax and Thalox wrapped around your finger." he said. I nodded. "Just don't tell anyone that we talked or that I said that. Anyway, just make sure that things continue like it always has. If they fight, support the loser. Continue coming to my tent at night. Things like that." I instructed him. He nodded. He then went to sleep. The next day, Phirlax called me over. I nodded and went to his side. He grabbed me and sniffed me. "Do I smell that good?" I teased. He just looked at me in exasperation. "As if! I'm just trying to figure out what Dulgron sees in you." he said. "What isn't there to like?" I asked him with a frown. He furrowed his brows as he crossed his arms. "That's what I'm talking about! You're way too passive to be fucking him right. I don't smell his scent on you, so he can't be the one dominating you." he said. There was some major deductions going on. I knew that they were both intelligent. "The two of us are really good friends. Neither of us are doing things like that. You can catch Dulgron and confirm it." I said.
He made it a point to drag me over to Dulgron and sniff him all over as well. "What are you doing!?" he snapped. Phirlax just glared him into submission. "I don't get it! As a slut, you go to his tent and he isn't fucking you!? Out of everyone here, why are you with Uraris?" Phirlax asked him. The submissive male just looked at me and then at him. "I'm not a slut! What gave you that idea!? I've only had 2 partners in my life." he argued. Phirlax just paused and looked at me for back up. "E-everyone thinks that you're Thalox's whore. He'd fuck you every night back when we were in service." he said. "How could you say that? No one thought that at all. Did you really think so lowly of them?" I said, obviously lying. He growled at me, but I didn't break character. "I cannot believe you thought I was a slut that would have sex with just anyone." he said, mock insulted. He just crossed his arms as if he was going to wait us out. "Why do you care!? You start sniffing both of us and accuse us of having sex. Were you really interested in one of us?" I asked. Dulgron and I grinned when he started stammering.
