Just as the night fell, We were all given the ability to pillage the city. I went straight for the markets to see what I could steal. I found the smith and the 3 of us broke into the workshop. We took all the ingots and money. I looked on the wall. I saw he was a run of the mill craftsman. The swords and axes were of standard quality. Since we were paid soldiers in the lord's army, we were not going to be able to keep the armor and weapons we had earned in the fight. This was our chance to get something for ourselves. I took a pair of longswords and Phirlax took a large zweihander and hefted it over his shoulder. Helelin saw some arrowheads and pocketed them. She then took a rapier. "This will serve us well. This was a good idea, Uraris." she said with a small smile. Phirlax shrugged and said "It's nice, but I'd rather be finding a female to be mating with right about now." I looked at them and said "You'll thank me when we have something to show for all this in the morning aside from some sore hips and a headache from drinking." "Especially since there won't be any males for me there." Helelin smirked.

Killing the strongest men was the point of the fighting and the pillaging. It made ruling over the new territory easier. Not like we were going to be able to do that. We were only peasants. On the up side, I was now level 10. We all moved up to the next tier as well like I hoped. I became apart of the light cavalry. That meant I got a saddled horse to ride. It was a black demonic steed with red eyes. I was given a larger helm with a metal piece that came down the center of the forehead and to the nose. I was given scale mail armor and thicker riding trousers. My boots were now leather. My sword was now longer for the purposes of fighting on horseback. Phirlax was a Billman. I saw he was given a glaive as well as a quiver of 5 throwing spears. His outfit as not too far from the crossbowmen. Helelin was given a chain mail tunic to wear over her clothes as well as a well crafted kite shield. Thalox was the same. The army occupied the castle town for a week before we were dismissed and sent home. The lord was confident the settlement was pacified. We gave our issued equipment and left service.

Losing the equipment and status made Thalox and his one surviving crony angry. While we were now allowed to wield weapons due to our new designation as veterans, they did not have anything. We did not have armor, but I made sure that we had our weapons on full display. We had to make it back to our village on our own as we were all dismissed. The lords retainers and men at arms would stay with him. The crony's name was Dulgron. He was only at the tier 2 stage as an army unit. He was a simple crossbowman while the others were hardened crossbowmen. He was scrawny and it looked like Thalox was the one stealing his kills to get himself ahead. He was surely a few kills away from being tier 5. Dulgron was also at level 10 from all the combat he had seen and survived. I asked him what element he was going to choose. Thalox spoke for him. "He's going to choose Earth. I'm going to be choosing Fire, so I need a guy who can take on Water demons for me." he said. That was a great idea. A lackey that overpowers the element you were weak to.... You would have little to fear.
