(Author's note: I had established that Jon was having trouble remembering Zoe's name and image...so I wrote an alternate version.)
"Can the stone create people out of thin air?" Karyn asked. "Or do those people have to come from somewhere? If they do, then the people you remember are still here somewhere. If not, they don't exist."
"How do I find out which ...?" Jon trailed off, as he saw something that answered that question for him.
"What are you staring at?" Karyn turned and saw a freshman standing there with her friends.
Jon stared at the girl. She had blond hair ... and larger breast size, not to mention perfectly tanned skin and an overall killer body.
"That's Sarah's little sister." Karyn asked.
"Sarah?"
"Yeah, Sarah McMillan...Zoe is like a younger version."
Zoe McMillan? Jon thought. Why does she seem so familiar? "But Sarah is an only child...like you are," he insisted.
"I'm not and neither is she," Karyn insisted. "Or at least I'm not right now."
"What are you staring at?" Zoe suddenly asked, breaking Jon out of his thoughts... and his stare. Her voice was filled with contempt - the same contempt he usually heard from Sarah. Apparently, some of Sarah's bitchiness rubbed off onto her younger sister.
"Uh ..." Jon wasn't sure what to say.
The difference was that Zoe was a freshman, and Jon was a junior. She might have been heir apparent to the Queen Bitch, but he was still older. "Well, if you are thinking of asking me out..." the thought made Jon feel very odd for some reason, "forget it. Sarah thinks you're a big loser." She walked around him like someone thinking of buying a used car. "You could probably fix that though, with some work. You too," she added for Karyn. "Stop getting your clothes at the salvation army...or at least buy something made for girls."
Karyn glared at her.
Jon frowned. Something about her face and voice seemed familiar. Maybe it was just because she was like Sarah.
