"I've noticed some changes in my life because of it. My family looks similar, but...we have a bunch of old family photos on the wall...there's this old picture of my gramma, the one that died before I was born. She's...stacked now."
"Well, the big breast genes had to come from somewhere," Jon said. Oddly, Karyn's breasts seemed like more comfortable ground than one...no two missing family members.
She was about to respond when they were interrupted by a high-pitched laugh. They both turned to see Sarah McMillan, head cheerleader and class-A bitch, was heading toward her locker followed by her usual entourage of drooling, overmuscled football players and other assorted testosterone-fueled flunkies.
"I guess she broke up with Biff again," Jon commented. Biff and Sarah's relationship was worse than a soap opera. They broke up, then were devoted to each other, then broke up again...
"Biff who?"
"You know, Sarah's boyfriend? Big guy, football player, jerk." He slapped his hand to his head. "So far, the only people who seem normal today are me, you, and Sarah."
"Well, Sarah's the reason I accidentally wished for those changes," Karyn said, thoughtfully. "And wishes can't be reversed, so my wish yesterday had to play out the same..."
"So, you're saying everyone but you, me, and Sarah is different? And I'm the only one who knows it?"
"No," Karyn said, seriously "I'm just making up things to explain it. I don't have any idea what's going on. And I wouldn't because I didn't hear your wish. I think you should go home, wish you and reality matched up better, and put the stone away for a while."
He sighed. "Maybe you're right. At least I don't have to deal with Biff Meadows anymore."
"Meadows? There's someone in my English class with that last name. But it's a common last name, I guess."
"I just...if these people aren't here anymore...where did they go? And where did all these new people come from?"
"Well, can the stone create people out of thin air? Or do those people have to come from somewhere? If they do, then the people you remember are still here somewhere. If not, they don't exist."
"How do I find out which..?" Jon trailed off as he saw something that answered that question for him.
