Other human NPCs kept jumping ahead of me. The clerks were also pretty rude to me as well. I could see the city guard glaring at me, as if he was itching to kick me out and beat me up. The citizenship cost just 15 lin. It was actually a deceptively good price. It was low enough price that a starting player could decide to commit themself to living in Ablinas City with their stipend of 100. It is also high enough that NPCs would not be able to move to new towns too easily. I paid it and I went to the office to buy a house. I still had over 3000 lin. I was a centaur, so all I needed was a one story house. It would be good if it was near the guild. The housing authority sold me a house for 1500 lin. She did not look happy that I was able to afford it at all. It was in the merchant district. I still had quite a bit of money, so I was doing well for myself. The next day, I went to a shop selling armor and bought a set of scale mail and similar barding for my lower half. I wanted to be kitted out so that I would not be killed so easily. I was still a level 1 character. That cost me a good 1000 lin. I decided to look around for easy quests.

Luckily for me, there was a cutpurse running around. He was no match for a centaur. I caught him and got the stolen money off of him. Looking closer, he was a beastkin young man. He looked like he was going to fight me, so I quickly slashed him with my greatsword. I returned it to its rightful owner. It was the younger brother of a cleric in one of the churches. I offered to escort him to his brother. When we got there, I met Father Curt Ariacaster. He was just a teenager. He looked at me with suspicion in his eyes. "What are you doing with my brother, beast?" he demanded. I flinched as I was not expecting that type of greeting. The younger brother, Daniel, told him what happened. The cleric looked at me in surprise for a moment. "I am... sorry. I jumped to conclusions. I am in your debt for helping my brother." he apologized. I asked him what faith he was apart of. He raised an eyebrow at me and said "I am a cleric of the Church of the Sky. Is there a problem with that?" I shook my head. "I just wanted to know whether you knew if anyone in the church had work for me." Curt thought for a brief moment.

Curt's job was attaching myself to a cart and taking a shipment of ale to the market to be sold by their merchant contacts. I did it and the merchant, a Fabian Dustbringer, told me of a caravan that would be leaving in a week. I told him about my rank in the Mercenary Guild. He nodded and said "If I need more muscle, I'll be sure to give you a ring at the guild." That was good. I was slowly gaining contacts in the city. I still needed to get back to Curt to complete the quest. When I did, he nodded and said "I see you are really good at this type of thing, centaur." I just shrugged and said "Is there anything else you need?" He crossed his arms. "What is all this supposed to be, huh? Are you looking for something out of me?" he asked, voicing his suspicions. "I am new in town and I joined the Mercenary Guild. It would be good for me to get my name spread around. Doing tasks for the church would be a good way to do that." I explained. He rolled his eyes. "Well, there is only so much a heathen can be expected to tasked with." he said. I asked how I could join the Church of the Sky. He gawked at me.
