Even when were were punished or beaten to relieve the stress of angry females, they just looked scared at the beginning and gradually drained. It made me angry, but it would only put them in more danger. Eventually, we all made it to level 10. That allowed me to choose which Evil Eyes that I would use. Once I did, I was able to choose which ones to do. There were several options: Death, Seal, Spy, Petrify, Clairvoyance, and Drain. The Death Eye did a devastating 2500 damage. For most mortals in the world, that was fatal. The Seal Eye took away the powers and skills of the users enemy. The Spy Eye allowed their vision to zoom in at large distances to spy on their enemies. It was good to get some intelligence on people before attacking. The Petrify Eye was a power that slowly turned a target to stone. The Clairvoyance Eye was a boon that allowed you to see a few seconds into the future. In actuality, it allowed you to see their next attack so you could block it. The Drain Eye allowed you to drain an enemy's HP, MP and skills and incorporate them to yourself. They were all very strong.
Humans only had two eyes so they could only choose two at the most. Even then, the karmic backlash against these powers would destroy the eye after using the all the powers except for Clairvoyance, Spy and Drain even once. Luckily, I and the other driders all had eight eyes. I assigned my main two eyes for Clairvoyance and Spy. The other six were split between Death, Seal and Drain. "Why not just cut to the chase and make all eight either the Death and Spy?" Aether asked. I shook my head. "If you go blind, nothing but holy magic can bring back your vision. And look at us, there's no way a human will do us a favor like that. These eyes are a last resort anyway. If all of our eyes go, we will be helpless in and out the colony." I explained. Aether still gave himself 4 Death Eyes anyway. I just shrugged. He made sure that his main eyes were for Clairvoyance and Spy though. I just thought it was cute as he huffed about it. His other two eyes were for Petrify and Drain. The others all followed my lead. This would put us in a good position for when we defected. An shrill alarm rang out at that moment.
Confused at the timing, we reported to the female commanders. "Get ready! Humans are here. Scouts count about 20 of them. Get your bow and arrows." she barked at us. We got our quivers and arrows. We then were all sent out into the forest to find and eliminate them all. I was fine with that. There was no way the humans would have any mercy on us. We made our way through the forest on the networks of black webs throughout the trees. It did not take long before the humans were found. I signaled my party to follow me. They nodded and we flanked them from the back as they engaged the ones that found them first. The humans were really skilled and held their own against the 4 driders in the vanguard. Even when we joined in, they gave us a run for a money. Eventually, we were able to get some luck shots in and disable a couple. That made it harder for the humans. It was soon clear that the humans were desperate to escape. When one of the mages began to charge a fire blast, I had my party retreat. The spell immolated the vanguard. It gave them the opening to escape the forest.
