"Come on sweetie." She said to Alex and the two headed to her car with Karyn following reluctantly behind her.
Alex got in the back seat while Karyn sat next to Miss Fine. They waved to Jon as Miss Fine pulled off the drive.
"Is this where you brainwash me?" Karyn asked.
"I don't brainwash anyone," Miss Fine said.
"What about him?" Karyn asked, gesturing to the back where Alex was dozing.
"As surprising as it may seem to you, this is what Alex wanted. You can ask if you like. But not now, the poor dear needs his sleep. I am afraid I am a sucker for needy children like him."
"I will do that tomorrow at school..."
"He is going back to elementary school...Alex needs a fresh start as the person he wants to be. But you can stop by whenever you want." She pulled up in front of Karyn's house and turned off the ignition. "Why don't I walk you in? I'm curious to see where you live," she said.
