Once the door had closed, Rebecca allowed herself to lean back in her chair and smiled. She was enjoying the power that she had over the students. They just seemed to eat up every word that she said. It took a certain kind of person to run the sort of experiments they were doing...someone who didn't care about the ethical implications for one.
There was a reason they had chosen this school as the focus of their first tests. Teens were trying to find their permanent identities, it made it easier to manipulate them. They was also an independent test going on at the local movie theater, with a different technique.
Of course there were some students that were a little trickier than others. A small percentage of the population was either resistant to mass techniques or completely immune to them. Which meant individual attention was required and varied techniques.
Jon, for example, had proven resistant to the techniques they'd initially tried to use on him, requiring her to give him a great deal of personal attention and time.
Rebecca frowned wondering how to deal with Kyla. Most students in the school would remain unchanged. But anyone who seemed to be suspicious needed to be taken care of, one way or the other.
She didn't have to influence Kyla directly. All experiments needed control subjects. By influencing the people around Kyla, she could influence Kyla. Besides, considering the immunity or resistance some people had to their techniques, it would be useful to see how someone would try to call attention to them...at least for a time.
