"There there," he said soothingly. "Perhaps Rebecca can help. Shall we go and see her?" Zoe nodded still sniffing.
Jon led her to Miss Fine's office and knocked on the door and then poked his head in.
"Excuse me Rebecca. Do you have a minute? We have an emergency."
She was on the phone. She seemed surprised.. "I'll have to call you back," she said, quickly to the person on the other end. Then she smiled. "I can always make time for the Gibson family. Why don't you both sit down and tell me what's wrong?"
Zoe relayed the entire story, sniffling.
"It sounds to me like your friend is worried about losing you," Rebecca said. "You told me that you originally met and became friends after you did not get on the cheerleading squad. Maybe she is afraid you won't want to be friends anymore."
"But a good friend would be happy for me..."
"Give her time. Pursue your dream. Let her come around. I see you as a leader, Zoe...not a follower. If you can learn to control that temper of yours...then I think you have the natural charisma to have everyone follow you."
