(Author's note: I had this idea that Karyn and Athena team up and try to figure out what is going on.)
Karyn hurried down the hall at a brisk pace toward the Guidance Office, determined to investigate.
As she reached an intersection, she narrowly avoided bumping into Athena, who came around the corner and was apparently heading in the same direction she was.
Athena was friends with Jon's sister, Zoe. So the two were fairly familiar with each other. The relationship was basically neutral. They didn't like or hate each other. Athena was, after all, two years younger than Karyn and that was a common emotional point of view from upper to lower classmen.
It wasn't until they reached the door to the Guidance Offices(inside of which was Miss Fine's office) that Karyn paused. "Are you going to see Miss Fine?"
"Yeah...she had this chat with Zoe and now Zoe is acting all...happy," Athena said.
"Yeah, she talked to Jon and Sarah...and they are both acting the same way. It's weird, right?"
"Very," Athena said.
"I'm going in there..." Karyn said.
"And if you come back a zombie?" Athena said.
Karyn paused. Zombie? Athena worrying about this made her feel like she might be silly. She knew that Goths generally disapproved of non-Goths. She'd heard Zoe and some of her friends call them 'sheep'. "Why don't we just watch to see who goes in and comes out for a few?"
A few moments later, Tiffany Sanders emerged from the office.
