(Author's Note: I had a few, again, slightly different takes on this. Wanted to give it a try.)
Sarah headed to her next class, deep in thought. She was thinking about what Miss Fine had said earlier. The more she thought about it, the more it seemed to make sense.
She did resent her parents about how little attention they gave her. She didn't have to be the sort of person her mother wanted her to be. She could be whatever she wanted.
Sarah paused as she wondered what her friends would think if she did. Sarah dismissed that thought. "What does it matter?" She thought to herself. "If they are truly my friends then they would be no matter what. If they don't approve, then who needs them? I can always find new friends."
Sarah had never told anyone but the reason that she had been giving Karyn so a hard time lately was because Karyn looked a lot like her. Not enough to be twins or anything...but...
Except Karyn had a totally different personality. She dressed differently, she acted differently. And no one gave her a hard time on what she should wear or who she should hang out with.
It wasn't that Sarah wanted to be exactly like Karyn. She was jealous of the freedom Karyn had. She wished she had it instead.
Sarah sighed, next time she saw Karyn she wouldn't be mean to her. She would try something else. Maybe be nicer.
