"Come on, Jom," Laura said, diverting Jon's attention. "Stop staring at Simon and let's get going. I want to get to school early."
"Why isn't...Simon coming with us?"
"He'd rather walk," Laura said. "You know how he is. He doesn't want to have anything to do with us."
He was surprised. With Zoe, they hadn't gotten along, but he hadn't heard anyone even mention this Zoe replacement. Almost like they pretended he didn't exist.
