"I wish that story was real," Stephie mumbled. It would be great if Jon was a real person, and this really was his wishing stone. Miss Jenny made all the characters in the story sound so real.
Stephie blinked as the stone suddenly lit up, flashed, then...vanished. "Whoa," she said.
She turned around. Something just happened. She spotted her friends a few feet away. There was definitely something different though. She wasn't sure what. Something had changed in the room.
She turned and spotted two teenagers heading toward her. One of them was dressed very strangely...like the sister in the story... "Come on, Stephie. Mom sent us to bring you home," she said.
"Mom said not to go anywhere with strangers," she said, specifically.
"Ha, ha...real funny," the girl said. "Come on, I'm hungry."
She turned back to where her two best friends were. "Are you going home?" Wanda asked.
"No...my mom is coming back for us," Stephie insisted.
"What do you mean?" Zahara asked.
"She dropped us off..." Stephie said, equally confused.
"That was last week, Stephie...my mom dropped us off this week, remember?"
Stephie looked very confused. She wasn't the only one in the room who was, but the other person was trying hard to hide it. "But...she was supposed to come back..."
"So, she sent your brother and sister instead."
