"What did she want?" Nadie asked.
"Nothing...just, she wants to make up with you, I think."
Nadie sighed. "I try, love. She isn't the easiest person to get along with. She was a constant source of worry to our mother. It made it rather easier to come out, actually."
"Have you ever been to see her band play?"
"Not since the one she had in school...where they tried to spice up their show with pyrotechnics and set off the fire alarm."
"Well," Demi said. "Maybe we should go...it isn't exactly my cup of tea either, but we could tolerate it for a night."
"That may be a good idea," the other woman said, snuggling closer.
