This obviously puzzled Athena. "What do you mean 'who's Zoe'? Zoe Madison. She's been our friend for years."
"Uh ... not that I know of," Zelda said.
What was wrong with them? She fingered the pendant, on a chain around her neck, absently...then frowned. It was warm...
"Something is very wrong..." she said. Instead of going inside the school, she reversed direction...intending to go to the Madison home to figure out what was going on.
Behind her, Zelda frowned. Something was definitely up with Athena. She started to follow her, but turned a corner and lost sight of her. "Zelda!" a voice called from behind her. She turned, wondering who it was.
