Lauren's vision cleared and she saw Lonna Tran standing above her, offering her a hand to get up. She took the hand, getting to her feet. "What just happened?" Lauren asked, looking down at Lonna.
"I'm not sure, Ms. Rodriguez," Lonna said. "I mean, we were talking, and there was a glow, and suddenly, we bumped into each other again..."
Lauren looked at her. "What about that stone?"
Lonna, still looking confused, reached into her pocket and pulled it out. "I don't know what it is," she said.
Lauren snatched it. "I'd better hold onto this for now," she said, putting it into her bag. "Now...we both should be in class..." she reminded Lonna gently.
"What about what just happened?" Lonna said, bewildered. She wasn't quite sure what just happened. Something felt...off. "I feel weird..."
Lauren took note of the look on her face. "Sick?"
"No....just...something feels off...I just can't figure out what."
Lauren felt a bit off herself, but dismissed it as her imagination. "Well, come and see me at the end of the day, if you are still feeling this way, we'll figure it out," she told Lonna. "Now, tell your teacher what happened. I'll confirm it if they ask me." Lonna started to hurry off. "And don't run...you don't want to bump into someone else."
Lonna quickly hurried around the corner, leaving Lauren alone. She shook her head. Lonna was a good kid, but she definitely needed to apply herself more.
