Hermione packed the book away when she heard Ginny approach. She knew she shouldn't but some instinct told her it was the right thing to do.
"A nice cup of tea, for our politest guest." Ginny said as she offered the cup to her friend.
Looking for a quiet chat, Ginny sat down opposite, and sipped at her own cup.
"My brothers tell me you're working on a new spell." she asked.
"For tea.." she prompted when Hermione looked blankly at her.
The pieces fell into place, and Hermione was left trying to work out how to preserve some dignity, for herself and others. This was a joke she'd shared with Harry. It was a Christmas break, and she'd been enjoying a nice cup of Hot Chocolate, when Ron had arrived with a blanket. The memory made her smile, he had a such a soft side.
Unfortunately, in the confusion Ron got the wrong end of a dull conversation. Later when Hermione wanted to fix things, well clear them up, he'd already proudly told his brothers, (and worse) his father of her new magic artefact.
"Thermos."
Ron had tried pronouncing the spell a number of different ways, but nothing ever worked. If Mr. Weasley ever worked out it was a muggle thing rather than magical, she'd have to spend the entire day with him. He was a sweet man, but rather ...mmmm... magical in his understanding.
"It's probably tricky to get the sounds just right." she finally said, cautiously.
"I might supply them myself with it." she added encouragingly.
