Miss Holloway was a new teacher at the school, young, pretty, idealistic, the type of teacher who all the boys had crushes on. The email she sent was a mass one, but was clearly selective based on the few number of girls it was sent to. Both Kayla and Gladys were on the list, along side people like Amber Levine and Stephanie Sanders, two cheerleaders who Kayla would never had associated herself with before. Also on the list were unexpected girls like Karyn Black, a tomboyish girl who tended to hang more with boys than girls. Kayla's new instincts for fashion and beauty made her see Karyn as a major fixer upper, but not beyond saving. Then there was Athena DeVires, a gothic witch girl, Kayla had never understood why someone would want to dress so outlandishly, but she did admire some of the more elegant dresses Athena would wear from time to time, she did the goth thing, but she did it well and with the most flare, still a goth on the Cheerleading team seemed a bit outlandish.
No more outlandish than herself on the team though, Kayla had a lot on her plate, she still wanted to get into a good school, she planned on locking down a boy soon, and she found this whole new beauty thing to be something that she couldn't stop thinking about. She realized she was a whole new person, which meant she didn't know who she was anymore...she would have to explore that. None of that made it seem like she would have time for Cheerleading. Plus their team sort of sucked this year.
They had lost their Head cheerleader because of a cheating scandal, and that girl had all but disappeared from the face of the earth. Tiffany, who was the sexy flashy girl had taken a fall, which resulted in her being out for the season, she had also apparently taken up ice cream in her time on the bench and gained enough weight that she wasn't going to be coming back the next year. Then there was the party which half the team was caught smoking weed at, resulting in the half the team being suspended. It wasn't a team to be proud of, so why besmirch your rep and join?
Miss Holloway made her case, she wanted to create a new type of squad, restart the whole program. The informational meeting was the next day before school.
Kayla would have to think about it, but for now she had to find out what was going on with the new and improved Gladys.
