Kayla's last class of the day was her computer class, and for this she was thankful, she needed to find out what was happening and there was no better source of knowledge than the internet. Computer class was great, it was basically a free pass to browse the internet for 90 minutes, under the guise of "creating a website of your interests". She knew there were better ways to find out what was happening, but she found herself on Facebook before she did anything, it felt comfortable for some reason to go there.
She had a message.
Gladys: Where were you at lunch today? missed you. Hearts Glads.

The way it was written was a little strange, but what caught Kayla off guard was the profile picture. It wasn't Gladys, but some other girl...She clicked on the profile. On second look it was Gladys, but a thin, sexy, Gladys. How had this happened...it seems that she too had also been promoted to Junior, and that her relationship status was Complicated....with who it did not say.

She looked around for more links, there she found a Tumbler link, cleverly titled "Glad I did it" which was to a fitblr (or workout/weight loss progress blog) There she found pictures of the new and old Gladys's, apparently in this lost year she had lost over 80 pounds!

She found in the about me section a little explanation of her workouts and eating habits as well as a lot of sexy photos.

It said: I was always the fat girl in school, but inspired by my bestie to make a change in my life, I started a new way of life. 81 pounds lost so far!

The bestie contained a link, which she clicked on, what followed shocked her.

It was Kayla's own web page, but not one she had made. This one was called Smartly Sexy, and was completely about Make up, Hair, and clothing.

She read the about me section.

"I was a nerd, underdeveloped, under noticed, but then I decided to make a change, to share my search for beauty on the internet....this is my journey."

The strange thing about reading it was it seemed oddly like she already knew what it was going to say, she felt like she knew the things her blog was about. Of course that color was called Plumb Umber and was for an evening look, she didn't think about that before but as she read it she knew it, she was learning things she already knew as she read the words some other version of her had written. By the time class was over she was an expert on female beauty, she knew how to mix, match, flirt, style, and make over. It was as if her mind had had a make over while she read, and she came out feeling a little more fabulous, more feminine, and certainly more in control. Suddenly the fact she had a Coach purse meant a lot more to her, Suddenly the fact that the girl next to her was wearing a ponytail seemed boring and lame of her, Suddenly she knew exactly what she was going to wear, how her hair and make up should be done when she went to Prom, something she wasn't planning on going to when the day started. She felt proud that her friend had turned her life around and become such a babe, and she could see that she was using some tips that must have been given to her by Kayla.

She responded to Gladys's message: Sorry, wasn't feeling myself, lets meet up after school, lots to talk about.

and she added, "nice choices today" though she wasn't sure exactly why, even though she knew it was true, and felt pride it in that.

She noticed as class and her strange school day was ending, that she had an unread email, from Miss Harroway, the title line: Cheerleading.
