Later that day the girls met up again, most shocking about this was seeing what they had all picked out to wear, given a chance to go home and change.
Jenny and Karyn had gone to Karyn's house, where they claimed to have been playing videogames, but the new varnish on their nails told another story. They still matched, but in a less obvious way, now in jackets and jeans but with different tops on underneath, Miranda snickered at the bedazzling on Karyn's jeans, which Karyn got defensive over. They were Jenny's jeans anyway, they just looked better on her.
Miranda had come from the gym, giving her body a workout to see what it could do, so she was the least dressed up. The experience had been strange as guys, working off their pounds gave her appraising glances that she would have given herself a day or so before. What shocked her is that this wasn't always unwelcome, it really depended on who was checking her out, but most of all she was focused on finding her limits, on pushing herself, finding that her best area to focus on now was cardio rather than weights, and that the best defense a girl could have were earbuds. She also had discovered the effects of yoga pants, as comfortable as they could be, was not always desired.
Jade came in a really cute Doctor who shirt which she was only wearing because she never could have worn it as a guy as it was a very feminine cut. She used to like the show because it was fun, but now she felt a connection to the tenth doctor, she had spent the day watching old episodes, and like so many things she felt it all anew as she learned about what it was to have a crush on the Doctor. She found herself wanting to be there, to be Rose, not for the adventure, but for the connection and excitement of it, it was the passion she found so interesting, more than the ideas.
Trinity came in a dress, blue and gray, but dark in those respects. She thought it was the best way to not show off her figure, as jeans and t-shirts hid nothing and got her looks, and this at least hung loose in some places, but it didn't fully do the job it had intended to. She still turned most every head in any room she entered, even sans make up. She had avoided people all day, but had done that spending much of the time in front of a mirror. She would claim this was trying to figure out how not to be so distracting to everyone, but to watch her it looked like she was playing getting to know you with her closet, practicing being a model. Then there was her hair, which took way more maintenance than one would think, because there was so much of it. She would have thought that having the day to herself, was desirable to the other option of people, but by the end of the day she found herself getting antsy and pent up, she was ready to go before it was time, and found herself waiting in the mall, counting boys glances for entertainment.
Nadine was the last to get dropped off, and her arrival was the most shocking. She wasn't a girl who wore make up before, she thought of it as something other people did. This was before she had a fully stocked makeup cabinet in her room. She ignored it for most of the day, helping her family plan a gala event for later that month, but eventually her mom noticed she wasn't wearing any, and so finally she made her way upstairs and did her "duty". The result was shocking, she knew how to apply makeup already, it wasn't like she was against it, but her skills had certainly improved alongside her considerable pallet of colors she now had to work with. Looking at herself after a mere 20 minutes of work, she then realized that she had to change her cloths to match what she had done, and so had shown up to the mall looking as fashionably dressed as she was fashionably late.
As they walked the mall, and got the looks they got, they recognized that this was the first time that all of them had been out in the world together, as a group. Every group of guys were making passes and giving glances, which made many of them uncomfortable.
"Trinity, couldn't you have worn something...less." Jade asked annoyed as another group made a glancing pass.
"It's not me, I mean it could be, but I'm not asking for it I swear. And that guy over there was looking at Princess here." Trinity protested.
"I am not a princess!" Nadine objected
"Oh really what did I hear you call your dad as you got out of the car?"
Nadine didn't want to answer.
"Come on... I know I heard it." Miranda pressed.
"Daddy."
Everyone laughed.
"He just gave me a hundred dollars and called me princess, he's never done that! It just slipped out!" Nadine was red.
Jenny interrupted the laughter.
"As much fun as this is, it's missing the point of us meeting here. We have to work out what we are going to do."
They all looked at each other, expecting someone else to start.
"Do we even know what happens next? Like is there a deadline for joining up, and if we don't what happens? I'm a little vague on the rules here." Jade threw out.
"Yeah, like if we don't join is she going to change us again? Does she have that power?"
"I was thinking about changing myself, eating a lot of Ben and Jerry's just to fuck with her plans." Trinity offered.
"And making you a cow in the process.'Miranda objected
"Yeah, but on my terms." Trinity's point was well taken.
"So why don't we just do this, where are we all leaning? I'm apparently already in. I don't feel like I'm in, but that uniform in my closet says I am in, so...." Jenny waited for someone to talk.
Once again, nobody wanted to speak.
"Alright, well I'm out. It's way too much work and I'm not even myself. I liked being me." Trinity spoke first.
"I'm out too." Nadine offered. " The money is great, and I'm not saying I haven't learned a lot about myself from this, but come on, a cheerleader...it's a step too far for me...even as I currently am." She motioned to herself
"I could be in." Miranda shocked the group. "I mean, it's weird and all, but it's not that far away from where I've been and it could be fun. Something different. I don't know....I'm willing to try it. If I have to. I do miss my dick."
Karyn offered "I'm in. I don't want to let my BFF just go and do something alone, and I've sort of been asking for it with the way my first wish went anyway....it's a new step for me, but I think I can do it. It's....It's like growing up for me."
They all looked at Jade.
"Two in, two out...what about you Jade?"
"I'm....I don't know....this is really strange...I've been thinking differently, feeling new things...It's all still so surreal, and just to join a dumb sport at school. I'm more concerned about the future"
"Like with jetpacks." Miranda shot in.
"No, like are we like this till we are not cheerleaders anymore...and then we change back, or after this we go to college and become college cheerleaders, then pro? What happens after the wish has run it's course....am I Jade forever or will I get to be Jay again at some point....I just want to know how it's all going to work....I wish there were rules."
Slowly everyone's phone began to buzz. It was Sarah, inviting them all over for a girls night at her mansion in an hour.
"Do we go?"
"Well half of us are already willing to join the team, 2 opposed and one undecided. I think that means we go. It could flesh out some things for us."
So they all went off.
