She was certainly not expecting this. She tried to get up but Zeta took his sword to her throat. "I don't ask more than once. Sit down and eat it." he said. She groaned and took a shaky bite of the green eggs. She then took two more nibbles. I passed her the purple sausage and she did the same. The other patrons were screaming at her to eat more but I held them at bay. The red cheese was when she took a turn for the worse. Blood started leaking from her mouth, nose and eyes. She then was forced to wash it down with the orange wine. "I'm done she groaned. Let me go!" I smiled. "Everyone. She has sampled everything at the table. Is there anything else here with a different color than when you ordered it." They scoured the inn's dining area for something. A blue fish, black cake and violet ale was slammed in front of her. "Eat it!" the patrons cried out. She broke down into tears. "Alright! I did it! I cursed them. No one got hurt. Let me go already!" she sobbed. I looked at the others. "I assume this is enough. Summon the authorities to take her away." "No guard deals with witches." the keeper said.
I took that to mean that here was going to be mob justice. I was not going to complain. I killed over a dozen of innocent men over this. "Then take her yourselves! I want a room for the night." The innkeeper gave me a key and told me it was free for helping bring her to justice. I went to the room with Zeta. We spent the night and watched them bind and burn the witch at the stake from the comfort of the room. "I thought you would have let the witch go." Zeta remarked after it was over. "Why?" I asked. He furrowed his brows for a moment and said "You don't seem to mind bringing outcasts into your ranks and elevating them. You did it for a street urchin. Several defectors from the Protectors were also loyal to you and joined a foreign paladin group because of you. I just thought a witch would not be much for you." I nodded and said "We are here as guests. We won't be able to ask around about the others if we let a witch go free. Especially after we killed all those people for her. This way, we can gain their trust." He just shrugged and said "Fine. Let's hope that you are right then."
We did not need to wait long. Zeta and I were given the hero's welcome when we came down. I was able to ask the patrons that were around and they told us about the other five Protector- Black Ops that came to this island looking for revenge. "They were a curious group. They were all young lads, but... they all dressed like lasses. It was the talk of the city. Quite questionable in my opinion." a woman said. She looked Zeta up and down and crinkled her nose at him. "I assume you are with them?" she said with a condescending tone and a wry smile on her lips. Zeta took a step and said "Yes. Do you know anymore?" A man chimed in from the other side of the countertop and said "Yeah they were strange. But they were not weak by any meaning of the word. They each beat over a dozen armed men with their bare arms. That caused a stir in the city to be sure." "It handed them a large amount of supporters. I think 26 young lads went with them." "I heard they left the island for their war about a week ago. Is that true?" The innkeeper nodded. "Takes a day and half to get there." he said.
He continued cleaning his glass as he spoke. "Already had a small army with him from the other islands. They seemed strong. I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them though." I asked him why. He first looked at me and then at Zeta. "I don't trust anyone who can do magic. It just ain't natural." he said. The man and woman's eyes went wide. "You saw them do magic! When?" the man demanded. The innkeeper said "They went out at night for something. I heard them and went down. They snapped their fingers and lit torches with magic. I went back to bed." "You didn't think it would be important to tell us!? Some of our lads went with them. What if they get hurt out there. Who knows what can happen with a group of deviant witches." the woman snapped at him. The innkeeper held the glass to the light to ensure it was as clean as it could be. After setting it down, he glared at her. "It is not my problem to tell anybody what goes on in my inn. If you have a problem, get out of here Mary." The woman named Mary only flinched. She looked down and away from him as well.
