"That's okay," the doctor said. "We're ready to begin." He reached for a lever that was protruding from the machine, and then he pulled it.
And for Sarah, everything went black.
Sarah sat bolt upright in bed and looked around, dazed and confused.
Zoe was sitting there, grinning at her wickedly. "Hey, sister."
"I'm not your sister, you freak," Sarah said.
"Well, not really. But...you have a part of me in you. A freak piece...Maybe it's like I'm your mom."
"Fuck you..."
"Yeah, that's me right there," Zoe said. "Well, probably not. They said they were looking for skills. So, they tell you to focus on doing the skill they want, so they can try to target the part of the brain to copy. But there's always some stuff that comes over accidentally, I hear. And I thought about what they wanted, but...well, I thought about other stuff too."
