Sarah approached the table and sat down, followed closely by Isabella and Biff. A moment later, Jon and Renee came by, and Sarah gave Jon a stern motion to sit next to her.

"Jon," Sarah hissed carefully, "I thought wishes cannot be reversed!"

"What do you mean?" Jon asked.

"I... I'm not a cheerleader, and Biff is not my boyfriend, and I can't speak English right."

"Sarah," Jon said slowly, and softly enough so nobody at the rest of the table would hear, "you just moved here this year, you can't be expected to be fluent, and you know Biff and Isabella have been an item for weeks, and you never even tried out for the cheerleading squad. Why would you?"

"But Jon," Sarah insisted while keeping a hushed tone, "I wished to be a cheerleader, and Biff's girlfriend!"

Something clicked in Jon's mind and his eyebrows shot up. "You're right. You did. That means you were right about the 'interesting' wish. And it must still be active!"

"What?" asked Sarah.

Jon pulled a piece of looseleaf from his backpack. "Okay, imagine someone wished for me to shrink an inch every hour, okay?" Jon sketched a few figures, each shorter than the last.

"Okay."

"Now, imagine I wished to be six feet tall." Jon drew a figure taller than the first.

"Okay."

"But I'm still shrinking an inch every hour!" Jon drew more figures, progressively smaller until he just drew a dot.

Sarah got the analogy. "So this is going to keep happening?"

"It doesn't have to," said Jon, "but it's going to take some figuring out. I'll think about it today, and I promise you I'll have it fixed this afternoon. For now, just lay low as much as you can."

It took Sarah a few moments to process everything, and she wasn't sure she understood every word, but she got the main gist. She was going to have to suffer through the rest of the day, but at least there was a light at the end of the tunnel. Jon seemed to know what he was doing.
