Sarah and Isabella left together and met Biff in the hallway. Biff greeted them with a smile and a "Hey, girls." Apparently Isabella was now a part of their group of friends, too. Isabella, however, was not the one that he leaned down to casually kiss.
The three of them walked towards the cafeteria, chatting awkwardly. Biff seemed a lot more caring than he used to be. Sarah couldn't imagine the old Biff putting in this much effort to hold a conversation with one person with poor English, let alone the two of them. It was strange but comforting, especially when he rapped his big arm around her shoulders, pulled her in tight, and gently corrected a small grammar slip-up. Which Sarah was proud had only happened once.
As they got to the cafeteria, though, Sarah could feel an all too familiar pain in her head. She slipped out of Biff's arm and took a few steps backwards, touching her forehead.
"Sarah!" Isabella cried, "What happen?"
Sarah looked up to see Isabella in her face, in front of Biff, who was also looking at Sarah with concern, but had his hands casually rubbing Isabella's shoulders.
Sarah shook her head and stood up straight. "I'm okay, just remembered something."
Isabella and Biff didn't believe Sarah, but they shrugged it off and followed her as she walked past them and into the cafeteria. In the few seconds between the time she turned her back towards the two and the time Kyla and Jamie hd a clear view of her face, Sarah managed to control her tears from escaping: she had just lost her boyfriend to Isabella.
