She frowned. "I'm sorry...I lost my train of thought for a moment."
"Are you all right?" One of the students asked. "Are you going to start class?"
She frowned again. They think I'm the substitute? I guess dressing professionally really does change how people see you. She thought. I wonder how far I can take this?
On the other side of the building, as the period drew to a close, Mr. Winters signaled for her to wait as everyone else left. "You were really focused today, Lonna," he said. "I'd like to see more of that."
"Yes, Mr. Winters," she said, picking up her bag and heading out of the room.
