Was she supposed to leave? Did he expect her to stay?
Lonna felt increasingly uncertain. but settled in to pay attention to the lesson, not wanting to interrupt again.
"Lonna," Mr. Winters said.
"Umm...yes?" She said, snapping back to reality from where her mind had gone.
"The answer, Lonna..." She blurted out an answer and he looked a bit surprised. "That's right."
Lonna breathed a sigh of relief.
Meanwhile, Ms. Rodriguez headed out of the bathroom, feeling a need to avoid being late. After colliding with Lonna, she didn't run...not that she could easily in the heels. She walked as fast as she could to class and entered. As soon as she did, the class instantly stopped talking and they all looked at her. Some of the male students smiled. Some avoiding eye contact as they searched for their seats. The feeling gave her a feeling of empowerment, an unknown authority that she had not had before.
She instinctively marched in the center of the room stating, “Ok, everyone put your phones away," she told them. "This is a classroom, not a..." She trailed off suddenly. What am I doing?
