Just it had been discussed, all the bells of the city rang out half an hour before to let the people know to get ready. The paladins took up most of the pews. There were only a few actual believers in the city so they got the last two pews to themselves. The first people to come in were allowed to stand in the back as long as they kept the center aisle clear. The cleric lead us through a Mass and used lots of imagery of the wilting rose to get his points across. He then said the last rites over the body and laid the wreath over the coffin. It was open and all could see the care the priest and monk care in dressing and making up the body. When the Mass was done, the two both ushered people up to say their goodbyes. I said mine briefly. "I guess this is the end. I'm sorry this had to happen to you." was all I said. At the end of the day, Daniel was just an NPC. Others were more heartfelt and reverent to him and his memory. When the Protectors and Glenda were done, we walked back to the manor. We were all wearing an earthy brown, the color of mourning for green paladins. We looked nice in my opinion.
Glenda said "Daniel was a bright young man. He was taken much to soon." I nodded and said "He was murdered for his correspondence with me. The Sage of Pollo Island had him killed." Everyone gasped in shock. They had never heard the full story from me. "Why would master do that!?" Chien asked. "She would never!" Abel said angrily. Dame Glenda crossed her arms and looked at me. "That is an impressive charge to make, Sir Hawks. Do you have any evidence of this?" I did. Agent XVII did not have any interest in building a case. I was able to produce the letter that he had sent me. After reading them, they were convinced. "So aside from corruption, why did a powerful Sage have him killed?" she asked. I had to go into detail about my first night in Wishbone. Dame Glenda looked at me with disappointment on her face. "Let me make sure I heard. You caused a war, seduced several of the Protectors to defect, gave unimaginable power to the rapacious thieves' guild, smuggle yourselves here and empowered a necromancer naga before you joined us." I nodded. It was all true.
She groaned and pinched the bridge of her nose. "If it was anyone else, I would be dragging them off to the nearest dungeon right now. Obviously, we are too far along to stop this ceremony, but this will all be documented. As sure as I am standing here, you will never be given the same honor." she said. I simply nodded and she walked off to her room. The Protectors were also upset. "I trusted you! How could you do all of this, Canan!? You weren't supposed to be a Devil!" Chien said. "I'm not a Devil. I'm a member of the Thieves' Guild. It was my initiation mission. You all knew that I was apart of them when I took you to their base to lay low." I shot back. They looked at each other knowingly. They really were complicit in this. I could aslo see that they were not entirely sure if they made the best choice. "Listen. It looks and sounds bad. I won't lie or try to waste your time. You guys are already considered defectors and traitors that will be killed on sight. You guys are paladins now. You can go and do whatever you want, or you can continue your post at the forts.
