Finding the temple for the god of death was not hard. Gristomales's temple was on the far side of the cemetery. As thieves guild members, we were confident that we would be able to pull it off. Daniel sighed and said "This is the type of things we should be doing. I don't know about helping that snake man. Can you even trust them if they are from a different race!?" "I'm a harpy. You're a human. I trust you." He frowned as if I was supposed to get it already. "Not you, dumbass. I respect a Veteran of the guild. You being part bird is way different than being a fucking snake! Necromancy is... pretty bad. Pretty sure it was banned on the island." I shrugged at that useless information and said "Listen up for a moment, Daniel. We both just need a good heist and to wait a few days before we can move on." He sighed again and let me pass and walk ahead of him. I flinched and let out a lewd chirp when he ran a finger down the root of my left wing. "See!? Nothing to worry about. You saw how that girl got killed from a bite." he added for good measure. I rolled my eyes and continued going.

We entered the temple and saw that it was relatively empty. Not many people come willingly to death. There were three clerics walking about. Two of them were very old but one was about Daniel's age. I looked at him and he came up to us. He smiled at us and greeted us warmly. His greeting trailed off as he got a closer look. "Good afternoon. I am Father Mortimer. Do you want a blessing or... healing?" he asked. I shook my head and asked a question on my mind. "Why is such a young man a cleric for the god of death? You'd think one would not be so... lively." was my query. He straightened up with pride. "I was abandoned and left at the steps of the temple. The clerics here took me in and raised me. With learned clerics such as Father Justin and Father Ion, it was no problem for me to learn enough to pass the test needed to serve Gristomales." That was pretty nice for a backstory. I leaned forward and said "I need you to come with us. I think there are children trapped in the crypt a girl was crying about how her friends were lost inside." He was shocked to hear it.

The shock turned to anger. "I keep telling the kids to stop playing around in there. They don't listen to me because I'm young. Some of them are even older than I am. I am not the most strong. Father Justin and Father Ion do not have the speed or the stamina to chase them off either. Come with me. You might get them to listen!" he said as he hurried out of the temple. We followed him until we got to the entrance of the crypt. "I'm surprised that door is still standing after all the times it get pried open and left like that when they come to play." Father Mortimer said in a huff. Just as we were about to go in, I cast a Sleep spell on him. He looked alarmed but fell to the ground before he could do anything to stop me. Daniel took the amulet from him and said "I wasn't too sure where you were going with that one." "It lasts for an hour. Let's hurry." We ran down through the maze. There were still zombies, skeletons and a host of other undead, but they were not as aggro as before on us. We reached the naga. "Don't underestimate the thieve's guild of Polo Island. We stole a merman from the sea."

His eyes lit up in recognition. "There was always rumors that there islanders killed a merman. Why else would they start a war? To think the guild kidnapped them." he hissed thoughtfully. I cleared my throat to break him from his thoughts and said "Like I had said before, I want the money now. 500 gold each." He chuckled and procured the bags. "Fine. Have your reward. The chambers of the heroes that lie here have thousands of gold coins. All of it cursed by the way. I purged the curse from the coins in the bags as long as they stay inside. I wouldn't stay in an establishment that you spend those coins at if I were you." he said mockingly. I shrugged as we took them. It was not hard. We just needed to find a realtor to launder the money into a stately manor or even several houses or a bank to hold the bags in and collect interest. A gold coin would be a bit too overbearing of a power move for the average shop anyway. Still, having the money was good enough. Daniel peered into the bag and looked at the shine. It was probably much more than he could dream of gaining for a lifetime.
