Then again, the "character nature" part itself might be explained away: Given that Lucas and Cass will visit (and speak in) a meeting of DEITIES the next day, it is rather conceivable that a DVD would rank REALLY low in Lucas's concerns right now, no matter how self-conscious about these things the character might be.
I think that probably makes the most sense. It just seems like kind of a minor point to get hung up on.
