"I wish I'd get an A on that science test I have to take today, because I remembered the material," Jon said. The stone glowed. Part of him didn't want to make that wish, because it almost felt like cheating, but if he could get an A on the test, he'd pass the class for sure. And he didn't want to take the class over again.
The stone flashed. Then, a moment later, a shimmering wave appeared, passing through him and the room, like some sort of weird aftershock.
"Weird," he commented. He headed down to grab breakfast and found his mother making breakfast for a seven year old girl he didn't recognize.
"Hi, Jon," the girl piped adorably.
"Umm...hi...uh..." Did he know her? How could this have anything to do with an A on his science test?
"Jon, what do you want for breakfast?" His mother asked, setting a bowl of cheerios in front of the girl.
"Thank you, Mommy," the girl said. His mother smiled, the sweetness of the little girl pleasing her.
Which would have been just fine with Jon if he knew who the hell she was.
"Jon, I need you to watch Molly after school today. Karyn can come over, if she likes."
"Can we play house?" the girl, apparently named Molly asked him.
"Umm...umm..." Jon stuttered.
"Jon, why are you staring at your sister like that?" his Mother asked.
"My sister's name is Zoe," he said.
"Yes, and your other sister's name is Molly," Jon's mom said, confused.
"What about Mikey?"
"Mikey who?" She asked.
Oh, boy...Did I just trade an A for my brother? And how did that happen?
In reality, both were true. Jon had gotten more studying done while stuck at home babysitting his new sister. But that wasn't why he had a sister instead of a brother.
Meanwhile...
