I stepped in front of him. "I told you. I am on a quest right now. If you want him, you'll have to go through me" I said as I put an arm out. "That's fine. Maybe you'll be more fun than him. I know who you are already. Arcolio told me about how you went with him to the villages to fight" he said with a bloodthirsty smile. Mary stood in between us and said "Mr Divad, I keep telling you this place is for guild business and not for personal vendettas or social calls. Jerix, I do not have to remind you that this is our lobby. There is to be no violence here. If you must fight, take it outside". Jerix glared at her, but she remained firm. He then left the lobby. Not before stopping next to us as he said "I'll be waiting outside. I can't wait. I can be the first of us in the guild to kill a Yieldless". I shivered and looked at Broderick. "You already know how strong he is. If you fight him head on, you will die. Do you have a plan of attack, or should we just run as fast as we can to the cathedral? Your sister is waiting for you" He looked to agree until I mentioned his sister.

He pushed me, but I didn't budge. "I am her older brother and I am the man of the family. I cannot go back as a failure. Simon and Charlie look up to me" he snapped. I just crossed my arms and said "Would you rather they feel some disappointment or grief? If you die, that's it. They will try to get revenge and you know they will not win either". He looked down and bit his lip. He was going to say something when his body swayed and he had to stick his leg out to keep him from falling. I gave him a new potion to drink. He took it and chugged it down. "Thanks" he said. I nodded. "He's a higher up here. We can't win without a plan. Do you have one?" I asked him when he finished it. He thought about it before asking what I had. I told him and he took a minute to think on it. "Give me the glaive. I need something with reach" he said. I gave it to him as he joined my party. I pulled out my longsword as well. There was a grin on his face. He then said "Let me get on your back so I can fight him off for you while you run around". I knelt down for him to climb up. He did it awkwardly.

Mary said "Please reconsider this, Mr. Divad. Jerix is a silver rank. You will not win a fight with him. All it will do is make you an enemy of the guild". I looked at her and said "What do you want from us? Let Broderick die right in front of your office? I do not need to tell you how it will look to people if a centaur kills a human in broad daylight". She shook her head. "That is not a real concern for us. You would obviously have an official duel. People would not be able to complain. Even then, mercenary work will never be an unneeded service. Jerix's prospects might go down, but it won't hurt us at all" she said. I groaned and said "Well, I guess we need to go out and face him". I left the office and he pointed a pike at me. "Let's have a duel. I'm not letting you go until you say yes" he said. A popup appeared challenging me as the party leader to a duel. I accepted it and he laughed. "I know you can't win so I'll make it easier for you. I'll only use this pike. You have my word on that" he said. I stood across from him and we stared each other down.
