I sighed deeply. I saw the catalogue and I already knew who Jerix was. He was a burly black warhorse centaur that carried a crossbow and two pikes on his back. Being a silver ranked mercenary was also a big problem. Coal ranks were between level 1-6. A copper rank mercenary was from the levels 7 to 12. Bronze rankers were between 13-19. Silver rankers were all between 20-29. Gold rank was between 30-39. Diamond rank mercenaries were between levels 40-49. Broderick was not going to stand a chance against someone level 20. I looked at her and asked if he was trained in combat in any capacity. She shook her head. I frowned and said "I see. I will go find Jerix right now. I hope I can find him and bring him home to you in one piece. Pray for us". She looked scared as the severity sank in. I went back to the mercenary guild and made sure to look over my shoulder as I approached the building. I went straight to Mary at the desk and said "I need to find Jerix right now! It is an emergency". I wanted to find him before anything happened.

She was startled and a moment later a servant was dispatched to bring him. It took an hour before the servant returned with an annoyed Jerix. I gasped out loud. The centaur had a bloody boy tied up at the wrists and ankles with rope and slung against his hindquarters. I ran up to the boy and felt for his pulse. He was surprisingly still alive. I opened his eyes and saw had the same eye color as Fionna. I took a potion from my inventory and pinched his nose closed. I then poured the liquid into his mouth and down his throat. The worst of his wounds healed before he began spluttering and coughing. He opened his eyes slowly. I smiled warmly at him when they focused on me. "Broderick Grinlack?" I asked him slowly. His eyes widened as he remembered what he was doing. He struggled and squirmed before Jerix slapped him with his tail. "You know this human?" he asked. I nodded and pulled Broderick off his back. "I don't know any 'taurs like you. Who are you!?" he demanded. I said "Your sister ran into me today. She knows what your up to. Lucky for you, Simon told her your target".

Broderick flinched at the mention of his siblings. Jerix turned to face us. "Who's a target now?" he asked as he reached for a pike. I sighed deeply. "Are you an apostate or heretic towards the Church of the Moon?" I asked. He scoffed and said "I said I was a member to get healing and some meals back in the day. I don't believe in any of these human gods". Broderick glared at him and I held him back. "You can't do that. The Church of the Moon's initiation for becoming an inquisitor involves tracking down heretics and apostates. Then the prospects are supposed to kill their target. I'd find a way to get back into their good graces if I were you". Jerix rolled his eyes before his attention turned to Broderick. "So this human was after my head? I don't know what you told that girl, but if you think I'm going to let this go, you're dead wrong" he said as he fully drew the pike. "Can't you let me have this one? You need to get ready for the war with Wetham and Giganto" I tried to reason with him. He shook his head with a smirk. "No! He wanted my head. Now, he's losing his!"
