Fionna looked at me and said "Our parents died when we were young. We were taken in by the church. I have three siblings, two brothers and a sister. Broderick is the oldest son and I am the second child. I was blessed from birth by Lunaire with high magical power. I gave my life to the church in order that we would be together. My vows were taken earlier and I have been making sure my siblings were all taken care of". I nodded at her. It made sense that the church would snatch up a young and vulnerable girl. She smiled and said "My siblings were not as gifted. I know that Broderick resents me for being the one that takes care of him. I'm a younger sister after all. I want him safe so it hurts sometimes". The church is a patriarchal institution. And from the way some NPCs treated non-humans, I could believe that they had other negative opinions. "Now that he has come of age, he went to the priests and demanded the initiation trial to become an inquisitor. He was supposed to be back by now and I can't help but fear for him" she finished.

I asked what the initiation trial was. She looked around and clammed up. "I'm sorry stranger. I shouldn't be bothering you from your prayers. Don't mind me and good day to you" she said quickly as she tried to leave. I held her arm to stop her. "I can't leave a young woman in distress. I want to help you. If you want to allow me, we can go somewhere or meet later". She looked at me in awe. I gave her my in-game name and smiled. She blushed and looked around again. "Please follow me Azil" she commanded strongly as she began to walk briskly to the entrance. She had found her nerve. I chuckled as I followed her. We left the cathedral and walked several blocks before ending up in an alley. "This is where we used to play when we had the spare time" she said with a grin. I looked around and imagined kids playing ball or something. She then looked at me. "I asked around and begged until I found out what the initiation trial was" she said. She leaned in closer and I leaned down to give her my ear. It must have been a guarded secret for people not in the church.

She began to whisper it to me. "The inquisitor initiation trial for the Church of the Moon is to track down an apostate or heretic and build a case against them. Then once it is approved, the prospect must kill them. I do not want to see my brother become a murderer, but I don't want to stand in the way of the will of Lunaire or her church either" she said. She was downcast and depressed. "If he is in the trial, did he let it slip who he was going after? He might be detained or worse by now if he is still not back". She paled and clutched at her heart. "Perish the thought! Broderick is still alive. I know it" she said, offended at the suggestion. I nodded and said "I can keep an eye out for him and bring him back if he's in trouble". Her face lit up and she said "Would you!? Thank you so much, Azil!" A popup for the quest appeared and I accepted it immediately. Fionna sighed in relief and said "Broderick is proud and would not talk to me. He did talk to Simon. He's the third of us. I had to twist Simon's ear, but he told me he was going after a silver ranked mercenary named Jerix".
