We went to the guild office and I signed the papers to certify I used their services. I looked at the receptionist and asked "So, have you gotten a contract from the mayor yet? You're going to be needed in a siege defense". She blinked nervously and said "W-well no. Not yet, at least. Those things take some time to hash out". A woman's voice called from the back and said "Maybe in peace time. In war time, a mercenary needs to strike when the iron is hot!" The receptionist rolled her eyes and said "That might be true Claire, but one might burn bridges if they seem too eager to profit from war and suffering". Claire appeared from the back and laughed. She was a buxom, tall woman with tanned skin. "Mary. Who's the Platinum rank around here?" she asked menacingly. Mary was not intimidated in the slightest. "Arnold is the Platinum rank in this branch. I think that Willet, the chief, will be on my side however". It seemed tense before a soft spoken man came from the back. He was a red head with sky blue eyes. "I think on this matter we need to maneuver ourselves".

Claire and Mary seemed surprised. "Finally found your balls, huh?" Claire said impressed. Mary got up and slammed her hands on the table. She said "Willet! What about our plans to gain favor with the city. We are not a main branch. We haven't even been operating here for two years. Are we really going to try and do this now? I think you should reconsider". "I understand that. Masters are not a trustworthy ally here" he said. He held out a ream of papers and put them in a envelope. "Use the seal on this. I wrote up a contract that would be fair. I decided to lease out all the guild's members together at 20 times the weekly rate. It is a provisional contract for a month of our service. Our contacts in the banking guild assured me the coffers would have enough. Our next contract will be 25 times the weekly rate." Claire seemed pleased and said "Fleece them for all they got Willet. The guild needs all the money we can get! We don't have all that much armor for coal ranks". Marry dripped some wax on the envelop and affixed the seal.

Now that it was done, he looked at Arcolio and Rikra. "You two want to go deliver this to the northern quadrant? This is all because of your heroics. It might make them take this more seriously if you go" Willet said. They shook their heads. "I'm tired. I want to go home and sleep" Arcollio said. Rikra's ears flattened and said "I don't get along well in northern quadrant. I have... enemies there". Claire and Mary looked at them. "I can go for you guys" I offered. They all looked at me in surprise. They probably forgot I was still there with them. "I was there too. I could deliver it and explain why it is important" I explained. Mary was going to give it to me when Willet snatched it away. "What is your aim here?" he asked as he looked at me. I said "If I help you out here, you give me discounts using the guild going forward". There was no reason for me to lie. These were all hardened mercenaries. They would know I was lying right away. He hummed to himself for a moment. "Fine. Mary, go with him to the office. Claire, man the desk until she gets back" he said as he gave it to me.

I saw the popup for the quest. I accepted it immediately and waited for Mary to join me. When she was in my party and ready to go, we walked up to the northern quadrant. She did not want to talk to me and I respected that. I wanted to watch the surroundings as we walked there. I loved it and we got there without incident. Mary directed me to the proper building and we went inside. This was the town hall building. It looked like things were winding down for the day. Mary lead me to a separate hallway and we were allowed an audience. Since we were on official guild business, we were given priority and were able to jump the line. I thought that that was pretty nice. The city official sat across from them. "So you two are representing the Adventurer's Guild" he said as he walked in before he looked at me. His brows wrinkled in confusion. "Yes, we are" I said. He shook his head and said "I've heard that you have a proposal for the city". I went over what we had done and seen. He was pale and nervous from my telling of it. "You need this contract" I finished.
