We tried to fight the dire wolf, but it was way too strong for me. I only did miniscule amounts of damage. The chimeras had to constantly jump in to defend me. The wolf's pelt was too tough for them to make much of a dent in its health bar. I decided to call it quits. "We have to leave! Let's run!" I said. The chimeras nodded and we fled. Elis sprouted yellow wings from his back and Reiner became a centaur. We kept going until we felt we lost it. The thumping of my heart made me clutch at my chest. I really felt it. Fear and straining muscles. Reiner and Elis approached and we looked around, listening for the wolf. I sighed in relief and looked at them. "Let's keep looking for your friend. They have to be somewhere" I said. They nodded and followed me as I led the way. As time went on, we heard some clashing and shouting coming from the edge of the forest. We shared a look before rushing over to where we heard it. When we got there, we saw a party of players fighting against someone.
It was four on one. The chimera growled at them to stay away. "We just want to live in peace! Leave us alone!" it roared. It was using an androgynous body unlike the others, so I did not know if it was supposed to be male or not. The party closed in and one began charging the chimer with his sword drawn. The chimera smirked and said "If that's the way it is, I'll kill every last one of you Master dipshits!" It dodged his attacks effortlessly and flipped out of the way of the arrows the archer was trying to fit it with. When the mage called down a blast of magical energy to hit the chimera, it caught its mark. It seemed to be pretty powerful as it fell on the ground. It left cuts and bruises all over its body. The chimera staggered as it got to its feet. The swordsman tried to bring his blade down and cleave it down the middle. Instead, the chimera caught it in one hand. It was shaking as the warrior tried to put as much power as he could, but it was still no use.
The chimera said "I was going to put you down gently. Now I'm going to make you suffer". A snake grew from its lower back and bit the warrior in the arm. The chimera dropped the hand holding the blade suddenly so it sank in the ground. It then gripped him and pulled his arm behind his back. A crack was heard followed by a cry of pain. Then another. And another. The chimera swept the leg of the warrior and made him fall face first on the ground. I was stunned, by the viciousness. The other members of his party were as well. The mage tried hitting the chimera with other spells, but it continued to dodge them. The same with the archer. The chimera turned to him and said he was annoying. It rolled forward to grab the sword and pulled it out the ground. It then charged the archer and swung the blade in a wide horizontal arc where he once stood. The archer jumped back to dodge. It made the chimera smirk as it leapt forward and impaled the archer.
For added measure, he took hold of the hilt and drove it further through him as he laid on the ground. Still not satisfied, it twisted the blade. Its hand was still bleeding from the cut of the warrior's strike. Needless to say, the archer was dead. A masked rouge stepped behind the chimera and stabbed it in the back with a dagger. He was also apart of the party, but made himself scarce during the fight. "This is the last time I take a fucking quest from the Church of Stars" he sighed as he pulled out the blade from its back. The snake lashed out to strike him, but the rouge cut off the head. The chimera roared in anger as even more of his dark black blood poured out his wounds. I wondered if he was going to be okay. Reiner and Elis didn't seem concerned. The chimera turned and pounce on the rouge. He stabbed at its chest multiple times, but the chimera absolutely mauled him with its fangs and claws.
