"Sorry," Sarah said, rolling her eyes. "It's why I ended up here. I guess my temper got the best of me in class. I said some things to Miss Smith that maybe I shouldn't have. I'm probably going to end up with detention. Ugh, I'm Sarah McMillan. I don't get detention. What are my parents going to think?"
A moment later, the door to the principal's office opened and Principal Davison came out. "Miss McMillan, join me please?"
She headed into the office. "Miss McMillan, I know your type. Your parents buy your way out of trouble. But not this time," Davison said.
"It was my fault," Sarah said. "I...lost my temper. It won't happen again."
"Well, I appreciate your honesty, but..." Davison suddenly trailed off and walked out of the office, leaving the door wide open.
Sarah followed him. "What happened?"
The secretary looked at her. "I told you to wait until Mr. Davison got back."
"He's right there," she said. Zelda, sitting there, nodded as the man walked out the door.
Sarah looked at Zelda. "You...saw him, right?"
She nodded.
