Jordan looked at the new girl self in the mirror, she thought of her old self and instead of thinking of Jon in the usual way of "that's me" instead had the thought cross her mind of "he's kind of cute", she found herself evaluating her old face as a possible love interest or boy toy on instinct. She then thought about herself, she thought about her boobs and her hair and how she would look wearing what Sarah was wearing, and feeling self conscious that she didn't shave her legs that morning.
All of this felt natural except the fact that it all felt natural, she was living in an alien world as a native of that world...She didn't like it.
She looked in the mirror. "This isn't me." She said aloud.
Sarah looked perturbed at the hearing this. "Oh no you don't."
Jordan looked in the mirror, she could swear her image flickered and seemed to change, were her eyes green or blue before? Both seemed possible but neither seemed likely, it was all too strange. She said it again. "This isn't me."
Suddenly her image began to change. Her hair went from brown and conservative to blond with a blue streak in it. Her eyes flashed green then blue then a golden hazel. Her skin freckled bright and deeply and her eyes took on the almond shape of someone from Japan but her skin remained alabaster white. She felt herself growing and shifting, as if puberty and old age were happening to her at the same time, her breasts grew and sagged and she gained weight and lost it in certain areas in the span of seconds, the loss of her center of gravity casting her to the floor. Suddenly she began to age rapidly, out of her teens and headed quickly towards her thirties.
"Oui, wat's going on 'ere?" Jordan said in shock, her accent that of a British punk. "This isn't me!" she said with increasing panic. She looked like a mix of every model or woman she had ever known or seen....and she couldn't think of her name anymore...who was she....this wasn't right this wasn't real.....
Sarah jumped in at just the last second, holding a red ruby crystal that flashed brightly. "You are Jordan Madison, a teenage girl and a cheerleader. You like guys and being popular. This is normal."
The shifting seemed to stop for a second. She was transfixed by the jewel in Sarah's hand.
"Say it."
"I am Jordan Madison, a girl, a cheerleader, I like guys and popularity and it's normal."
As she said it it became true again. Her form settled down into something resembling what she was before, with some minor changes, her hair a lighter shade, her eyes now revealing a slight Japanese/American heritage (going back to her grandmothers) and there were a light dusting of freckles on her nose where there weren't any before. She remembered a boy at school who had a crush on her because he thought she looked like a younger Olivia Munn, though she didn't know who that was...she remembered liking him back a little.
"What just happened?" she asked in a perfect Californian American accent.
Sarah responded, "I said you better get used to it and it meant it, you are int the middle of a spell, a spell that is new and still active, if you go off the spell then you could become anything. I was only just able to bring you back...but not entirely apparently. Jasmine."
"But you said my name was Jordan now."
"Yeah well is it?"
"no....it's Jasmine."
"That's cause you messed with the spell. Had you just played along you would have been able to just be the female version of yourself, but since you had to make changes you are now the female version of yourself had your grandfather fought in Japan instead of Europe in WWII. You can never be Jon again, Jasmine."
This rang true for some reason...
Sarah grabbed the mirror and stuck the new girls face in it.
"look in the mirror. This is you now."
Jasmine stared into the hazel eyes of a girl who looked like an exotic version of a female version of her old self. It felt wrong.
"Say it." Sarah held up the red gem again.
"This is me now." and suddenly it didn't feel so wrong to be this girl.
"It's best you accept it, no more fighting this, or you'll end up some twisted human with no idea who or what you are. You ever hear of the elephant man? That's what happens! You are this now, find a way to get used to it."
Jasmine now had to find a way.
