Jon woke up in a very familiar place, to a blaring alarm, and his eyes shot open as he sat up in his mother's bed, looking at the master bedroom in his own house. What was he doing there? The last thing he remembered...
Standing up, he started at the sensation of weight on his bare chest, and slowly made his way to the bathroom. A woman looked back at him from the mirror. He could still see his face, but not. It was an older, feminized version of himself. He closed his eyes, suddenly hyperaware of a thousand different strange sensations, flesh and weight where there was none before, different distribution of such, countless subtle differences from the way his body used to be.
He felt old. To him, anything above 25 was old. But now...he'd more than doubled his age in...he needed to find out what day it was. He was wearing only a simple nightgown, and went for a robe. He didn't want people to see him like this, not that he had much of a choice.
He stumbled toward the door, still feeling unbalanced, and opened it. It was his house all right. "Hello?" He called, and winced. Even his voice sounded different.
"So, you're up?" a voice said from behind him, and he turned to face his sister, Zoe.
"Yes. What day is it?"
"Sunday," she said. "Are you planning on making breakfast?"
He stared at her. "What?"
"Breakfast, food...and then I need a ride to meet my friends."
He took a deep breath. "What is going on around here?" He said.
She paused, looking rather sincere. "Look...they took my mom and brother away. And...if you don't take my mom's place, me and my brother become orphans. That's what the social worker told me."
"What do you mean...took away?"
"I don't know what they were punishing you for, and I don't fucking care. Are you going to make this work or not?"
Jon paused. He hadn't seen Zoe like this vulnerable looking since their father's funeral. It wasn't till after that she started acting all pissy and angry all the time. She was clearly worried about herself and Mikey.
