Jon lay awake, thinking, in her makeshift bed, a pile of soft cloths thick enough to serve as a mattress and laid out on the nightstand next to her old bed, in which Karyn was sleeping. Jon thought back to when Karyn had first come over that afternoon; after a little more drama, they'd spent some time discussing the implications of Mikey's wish, eventually concluding that the stone was gone for good.As much as she hated the prospect of being stuck like this forever, Jon had to admit that it wa strangely reassuring to know that she'd never have to worry about a careless wish screwing up her life again.
After their discussion, they had decided that Karyn would spend the night, as part of her attempts to help Jon and Mikey adjust. That had culminated, later in the evening, in Karyn taking the two new sisters into the bathroom and having herself and Jon doff their clothes (Mikey already being naked rather than wear the skirts that had been bought for her.)
Karyn's hope was that this would get the awkwardness over with by helping them get used to their new bodies, but Jon wasn't sure whether it had succeeded or not; it certainly had been awkward staring at the naked, insect-winged teenage girl in the bathroom mirror, but she wasn't confident that it would be any less awkward next time. Mainly what she'd come away with was the understanding that, despite being similarily proportioned to a normal woman's, thanks to her tiny body her breasts had far less mass, and thus left her entirely free of back strain and bounce issues (much to Karyn's envy.) She figured this would allow her to ditch the bra, which was a plus, since it was complicated enough just getting a shirt on around her wings.
Jon sighed and pulled the top cloth a little further over her. She was anything but excited about a lifetime of periods, facilities designed people ten to twelve times her height, and being nicknamed "Tinkerbell," but at least she had a good friend and a sibling to help her through it.
After a little reading, Sarah decided to call it a night. It was late, and she needed her sleep; being the most popular girl in school was a lot of work. Too much work, almost, but she couldn't very well give up now. Not now that she was finally on top. She thought back on the events of the day and snickered to herself; who'd have guessed that geeky ol' Jon Madison would have become a pretty teenage girl, let alone a fairy? Not too pretty, thankfully, but the whole "six inches tall" thing placed him-er, her squarely in the "freak show" category of changed individuals anyway, so Jon was clearly no threat to her standing.
Really, Sarah was just glad she didn't have to worry about changing; she knew that she must have contracted it back in fifth grade, when Kenny Logan, the boy who sat next to her, had become a bunny-girl, but she hadn't changed. And it was an established fact that you could only catch it once. Secure in her humanity and her position,Sarah went to sleep.
