Rebecca Fine went to work. However, rather than actively cleaning, she seemed more to be studying the house and its inhabitants. She started by having a cup of tea with the mother, putting her at ease and listening to her talk about the challenges of being a single mother of three.
The eldest, Jon, was a junior in high school, and while he wasn't a bad kid, certainly could help around the house more according to his mother. The middle child, Zoe, freshman, had become a Goth and rebelled against pretty much everything. She was a handful and was always sneaking out, or smoking, or who knew what else. Finally, her baby..Mikey, was in elementary school. He was a typical boy...interested in superheroes and had entirely too much energy. It was why she needed someone to come in and help clean. She worked, and her children couldn't be bothered.
As she listened, she became more convinced that the family needed help. She wasn't going to just clean up the house...well, actually, she wasn't really going to do that at all. She was going to clean up the family.
